Abstract
In this paper we review the agent models of some biological and socio-economic processes. Their interpretation is given on the basis of the approach proposed by the British researcher Philip Ball, the essence of which is to consider social phenomena through the prism of physics, namely its subsection - statistical mechanics. Theoretical constructions in statistical mechanics are carried out according to the principle of "bottom-up", when the phenomena of matter manifesting at the macrolevel are explained through the definition of the rules of action and interaction of its elements (molecules and atoms). It is this principle that formed the basis of the methodology of agent modeling. The paper examines models of road traffic, racial segregation, democratic elections, cultural convergence, military and economic alliances, growth and death of firms, and others.
